I've been wanting to learn how to draw for years, but every time I tried, no matter how much better I got it was never enough and I always ended up quitting.  But the desire to draw just won't go away, no matter how much I suck.  So I've decided to start by trying to copy part of a manga cover every day, or as often as I can.  I'm figuring that if I draw something every day, or every other day, then eventually I'll start getting better.  And even if that skill doesn't translate to drawing my own pictures, at least I'll know how to draw fanart, I've always wanted to try that.

That being said, don't expect too much from this journal, but I will be posting my sketches up every time I finish one.  These are all rough, and terribly amateur, but I want to put them somewhere, and maybe people will be able to see how my skill increases.  Or not.  Either way, sketches will be posted here until I run out of manga to copy from, which will probably never happen.

Hey, an awesome book to use is "Drawing on the right side of the brain". It teaches realism, but more so it teaches how to draw what you see, instead of what you think you know. Its an awesome book, and good for all skill levels. I recently just poked through it, I suggest you give it a shot. AND after that, just start copying your favorite artists work, never post it as your own, but it will help you get a style you want and are happy with.
